Melissa Feinman

Director of COMPASS High and Teen Programs

Melissa joined the Y in 2021 as the director of COMPASS High and Teen Programs. She oversees the COMPASS High after-school program at Columbia Secondary School, as well as the Jewish-Latinx Youth Council and other teen programming. Previously, Melissa worked as a college counselor at College Possible, where she helped high-achieving, lower-income high school students navigate the college application and financial aid processes. At College Possible, Melissa spearheaded the essay editing committee, which equipped other coaches with the tools necessary to support college essay writing, as well as the social transition committee, which helped first-generation college students acclimate to campus life. She is passionate about the emotional well-being, mental health, and overall development of young people.

Melissa earned masters degrees in social work and nonprofit leadership from the University of Pennsylvania, where she gained first-hand experience as a school counselor and as a development intern at a local nonprofit. She holds a BA in psychology and English from Macalester College. When she is not at work, Melissa loves writing short stories, spending time with her friends and family, and catching all the theater New York City has to offer.
