PJ Library

PJ Library provides free books that celebrate Jewish values and culture to families with children newborn to 8 years old. Sign up for PJ Library to receive the gift of Jewish books each month – at no cost to your family – at ny.pjlibrary.org.

This program is made possible through a grant from PJ Library, a program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.

Please reach out to Mara Bragg with any questions or to join the email list for future events at mbragg@ywashhts.org.

PJ Library at the Y 2020 - 2021: Sharing Our Stories

From Baby to Bubbie and In Between

At a time when we may miss traveling to see family, we’re thrilled to bring the pages alive this year with Sharing Our Stories, a series of intergenerational events designed to build bonds and foster community around Jewish holidays and family narratives.

The PJ Library books will inspire our gatherings and have options for families to create tangible books with their own stories as an ongoing parallel project. By looking inward to find our own family narratives and traditions, we also will gain inspiration from observing resiliency over time and life experience from elders. By looking outward, at the rich Jewish values and traditions portrayed in PJ Library books, we will offer families additional guidance and support.

Ice Cream Social

Sunday, May 16, 2021 — before Shavuot
Inspired by the PJ Library book, Estie the Mensch, this year-end community gathering and celebration will feature ice cream — related to the menschiness in the book, and Shavuot — plus outdoor fun.

Parent Cohort

In between our five events, parents will be invited to join a parent-led cohort for three community-building events, to stay connected with families during these times, and enjoy ownership in co-creating our gatherings. To learn more about joining the parent cohort, please email Mara, mbragg@ywashhts.org
